DUBAI – Dubai’s gold market opened Monday with retail rates holding firm, reflecting steady global bullion prices and persistent geopolitical tensions affecting commodities.

Data from the Dubai Jewellery Group shows 24K gold priced at Dh604.25 per gram, while other categories also remain elevated as investors track global markets.

Dubai gold rates

The suggested retail rates for gold jewellery in Dubai on March 16, 2026 are:

  • 24K: Dh604.25
  • 22K: Dh559.50
  • 21K: Dh536.50
  • 18K: Dh459.75
  • 14K: Dh358.75

Dubai’s gold prices often mirror global bullion movements while also reflecting regional retail demand. The emirate remains one of the world’s most active physical gold markets, with prices closely watched by shoppers, investors and jewellery traders across the Gulf.

Global gold

In international markets, spot gold was largely steady early Monday after erasing an earlier decline of nearly 1%. Bullion edged 0.1% higher to $5,020.79 per ounce, while US gold futures for April delivery slipped 0.7% to $5,024.90.

A softer dollar helped stabilise prices, making gold — which is priced in the greenback — cheaper for buyers using other currencies. At the same time, easing US 10-year Treasury yields improved the appeal of non-yielding assets such as bullion.

Market participants are also closely watching the policy outlook of the Federal Reserve. The central bank is widely expected to leave interest rates unchanged at the end of its two-day meeting on Wednesday, marking a second consecutive pause.

Oil tensions

Energy markets remain a key driver behind investor sentiment. Oil prices are trading above $100 per barrel as the conflict between the United States, Israel and Iran enters its third week, raising fears of supply disruptions.

The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has emerged as the biggest disruption to global oil flows in recent history, threatening shipments from Gulf producers and pushing energy prices higher worldwide.

US President Donald Trump said Washington is currently in talks with seven countries about helping secure the vital shipping corridor. He also warned of further strikes targeting Iran’s primary oil export hub, Kharg Island.

Higher oil prices often add to inflationary pressures by increasing transportation and manufacturing costs. While gold is traditionally viewed as a hedge against inflation, elevated interest rates can temper its appeal as investors weigh returns from yield-bearing assets.

Other precious metals

Other precious metals also posted gains in early trading.

Spot silver rose 0.1% to $80.62 per ounce, extending modest momentum alongside gold as investors tracked geopolitical developments and currency movements.

Platinum recorded a stronger move, rising 1.8% to $2,060.32 per ounce, while palladium advanced 1.6% to $1,576.41.
